Bordeaux, May 20, 2023 - The Villa Primrose offered exceptional matches for its singles and doubles finals. The grounds of Bordeaux witnessed a clash between two young rising talents in the men's singles: Tomás Martin ETCHEVERRY (ARG) and Ugo HUMBERT (FRA).
The afternoon began with the doubles final, which pitted Sadio DOUMBIA (FRA) / Fabien REBOUL (FRA) against the men's doubles headliners (ranked 12th in ATP), Lloyd GLASSPOOL (GBR) and Harri HELIOVAARA (FIN). The Finnish player allowed his team to quickly establish themselves as a serious threat to the Toulouse duo, who lost 6-4 in the first set.
The second set was much more expedient as the Finnish and British players continued to be aggressive with multiple net approaches, combined with powerful smashes, ending the match with an imposing score of 6-2.
The "favorites" of the tournament rightfully emerged victorious, confirming their second title of the season (after the ATP 250 in Adelaide 1) by winning the BNP Paribas Primrose in men's doubles.

The Grand Final
The Court Central Agence Côte Ouest eagerly awaited the encounter between Tomás Martin ETCHEVERRY (ARG) and Ugo HUMBERT (FRA) and warmly welcomed the heroes of the day.
The first set began with long exchanges where the Argentinean was very proactive, but HUMBERT’s reaction, with a clenched fist, equalized at 4 games all. The two players never wanted to lose any point, leading them to a tie-break, ultimately dominated by the French player (7-3), who won the set (7-6).
The ascendancy of the crowd favorite was confirmed as he broke the opponent's serve, taking a 3-1 lead at the start of the second set. Buoyed by the support of the audience, HUMBERT never allowed himself to be destabilized by a determined ETCHEVERRY and eventually triumphed with a score of 6-4.
Amidst a standing ovation, he lifted the trophy, securing his position as the number one French player. His coach, Jérémy CHARDY, who was also the coach of the 2022 titleholder (Alexei POPYRIN), joined him on the court to applaud the winner of the 14th edition of the BNP Paribas Primrose tournament.
The Frenchman continues his excellent month of May with a second title in less than 15 days in an ATP 175 tournament, approaching Roland-Garros.
